ABOUT US

OUR JOURNEY

 

  • Kanpur Ploggers is a registered NGO in 2021, dedicated to environmental conservation, with a formal MoU signed with the Nagar Nigam Kanpur to clean the ghats of the Ganga in Kanpur. KP has developed a community of more than 800 Eco-warriors both online and offline.
  • We conduct weekly cleanup drives at different ghats, preventing 70,000 kilos of waste from entering the river, thereby reducing ocean pollution and contributing to global change. 
  • Our initiatives have inspired residents to reduce plastic use and collect plastic packets, which we collect from doorsteps and shopkeepers for recycling. So far, 5 lakhs such packets have been recycled into products like cycle seat covers, pipes, and tree guards.
  • Additionally, During our monsoon plantation drives, we planted over 500 plants across Kanpur safeguarded by these recycled tree guards.
  • Project Sankalp focuses on reducing polythene usage by donating cloth bags made from recycled bedsheets and curtains to shopkeepers. Meanwhile, Project Bartan Bank aims to minimize single-use plastics at parties by providing steel utensils at a nominal cost of Rs. 1 per item.
  • Our projects are transforming the city and its citizens, promoting low-waste and conscious living. We have also established Arpan Sthals at various ghats to prevent waste from entering the river. 
  • From collecting plastics from households for recycling and producing cloth bags from waste cloth, to planting trees and picking trash from the ghats, we are fostering a sustainable community mindset.
